You may find that during the week you have an easier time remembering to take your combination therapy. Many people find that the daily routine of the workweek helps them stay on schedule with their medications. But what will you do on the weekends, or when you're away from home?
It's important for you to take your doses at the same time no matter what day of the week it is. For example, a person who takes their medication at 7 AM during the workweek may need a special reminder in order to take doses at this time on the weekend. You may find that setting an alarm or beeper can help with this.
Getting up at the same time every day is also very helpful. Though it may be hard to not sleep in on the weekend, by getting up at the same time every day you will be able to take your medications at the right time, and improve your chances of a successful treatment.
(Patient:) "I have a routine during the week with my job and softball games, but I do different things on the weekend so I have to find a special way to remember to take my medications on those days. I use my watch alarm to remind me when to take my medications. This keeps me from getting too distracted with other things I may find myself doing. I also try to get up at the same time every day, no matter what day of the week it is. This helps me stay on time with my medicines."
By planning ahead for the weekend, you can take your medications at the right time, and stay on track with your treatment program.
