Many people feel like they have the flu after they begin Combination Therapy. This may include: muscle aches, chills, sweats, headaches, or a fever. These symptoms are usually worse at the beginning of therapy but get better over time. Many people will have these symptoms 4-6 hours after having their injection. By taking your injection before bedtime, you may be able to sleep through the flu-like symptoms.
To help prevent or avoid these symptoms, the doctor recommends taking 2 Tylenol every six hours for the first 3 to 4 days of the therapy. After that, try to take one Tylenol when you do your injection. If you have fever or chills when you wake up in the morning, try taking one Aleve and one Tylenol with your bedtime injection.
Drinking 10-12 glasses of water, juice, or other clear liquids can also help you feel better.
