Pegasys Administration

Available in the form of an injection,
Pegasys® (peginterferon alfa-2a) is prescribed to treat chronic hepatitis B or C infections. If you are prescribed this drug, you may be looking for more information on administration techniques for how to properly use Pegasys injections.

Pegasys comes in a vial, a prefilled syringe, or an autoinjector. All forms are for a single use only. The injections are given just under the skin once a week for 24 to 48 weeks. It is best to inject the medicine into areas of the skin that have a layer of fat underneath. This includes the thigh or abdomen (stomach), away from the navel (belly button). Try to rotate the injection sites; do not inject in the same place twice in a row. Make sure your healthcare provider teaches you exactly how to administer this medicine.
