peginterferon alfa-2a) is a medication that is available by prescription only and helps activate the body's response to fight the
hepatitis B and C viruses. It comes as an injection that is given just under the skin (subcutaneously) once a week for 24 to 48 weeks.
To help ensure a safe treatment process, make sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medical problems you might have (such as
diabetes, lung problems, or any mood disorders), as well as any other medications, vitamins, or supplements you are taking. Side effects may include fever, muscle aches, and
headaches.
